There are multiple approaches to achieving wellness, and it may be worth knowing what is available to you. As a patient you need to feel confident in your decision making when it comes to treatment options for new diagnoses, as well as for medications. Miscommunication in healthcare is a byproduct of our fragmented system.  Doctors often do not consult with each other the way we think they do (or should). A nurse advocate is savvy to such issues, and will be by your side to protect you and provide you with educational materials to help you make informed decisions about your treatment options.

Facilitate healthcare team meetings

Do you need a care coordination meeting so your current care team can formulate a plan, but you are not sure how to go about doing this? As apart of our patient advocate services, We can schedule care plan meetings, phone conversations, and face-to-face visits with your providers and family. Whether you are a family member of a patient, or the patient yourself, we can coordinate and facilitate meetings to ensure that everyone is on the same page and your care is effective and safe.

What if I am not located in Tucson, but I need help with a family member who lives near you?

We can help. The stress and strain of organizing the care of a loved one from afar can feel unmanageable, and overwhelming. This is a common scenario for adult children with aging parents who live in another state or city. We can work with your family member locally, and keep you informed with updates as often as you would like.  

How is an independent nurse advocate different from a hospital or insurance advocate?

Unlike insurance advocates or hospital nurse navigators (sometimes called advocates), an independent RN Patient Advocate has your best interests at heart, and works directly for the patient and family to fulfill personal health goals and needs.  Organizational advocates are hired by hospitals or insurance companies, so their loyalty ultimately lies with the company through which they were hired.

Are your services covered by insurance or Medicare?

No. Advocacy services are currently not covered through insurance or Medicare. You might consider consulting your tax, legal, or accounting professional to inquire about potential tax deductible costs.

Do you provide direct physical care? (dressing changes, medication administration, etc.)

We do not provide direct patient care. Our services will meet many of your needs, but our scope of practice does not allow for hands-on, physical care. There are in-home nursing services that provide this type of care, and we would be happy to connect you with a variety of options during the course of our services.  

Can you provide me with medical advice?

We will provide you with as much health-related information as you need and want, so that you are prepared to select the best healthcare options for you. We can guide you through the decision making process, but we cannot provide medical advice.

What if I do not need ALL of the services you offer?

No problem. Our services are tailored to the needs of the individual, which means you might only need assistance with one or two of our listed options.

Will you pick me up for my appointment?

We will gladly be there with you during any appointments, procedures, or hospitalizations. We can also prearrange transportation services for you, but we cannot take you to and from your appointments.

Can you help me with insurance claims and billing?

Currently, we do not offer direct assistance with claims and billing issues, but we are happy to work with you on this, and provide you with references for such services.

Will my health information be protected?

Your health information will be protected and will not be shared with anyone outside of your healthcare team, unless you specify otherwise.
